Humanities at Work in the Community, Health and Tech Industry

In the past few years, Dr. Soudi worked very hard in the spirit of collegial partnership to lead a team from several departments in the school of Medicine, the School of Business, the School of Computing and Information, School of Education, and Community and Industry Organizations, to research across traditional academic lines and to broaden educational opportunities for students across campus, and facilitate the application of humanities skills, while enhancing opportunities in the marketplace. In the course of this work, Soudi chaired 4 conferences: 2016 Humanities in Health, 2017 Cultural and Linguistic Diversity, 2018 Family and Healthy U, and most recently, 2019 Humanities at Work. The goals of these meeting align with the Strategic Plan for the University of Pittsburgh, especially with regards to the creation of an institutional environment and culture that celebrate interdisciplinary collaborations and team accomplishment, foster relationships, events, policies, and work that strive for integrative successes in and outside of academia.

Many people contributed time and effort into planning these projects from their conception to today’s product. Besides our audiences, speakers, planning team and our students, many partners and sponsors made all of this happen.
